We are recognized as a CBO (Community Based Organization) by the Mbeya city and is connected to the regional business community through its membership in the Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (TCCIA). WHAT WE DO
-1. We conduct trainings on making of bamboo crafts and furnitures for women in Mbeya region and the build the capacity of them. Most of the women in our group had been faced hardship in their life. Many of them are single mothers and are responsible for their family finances. After they finish the trainings, we employ them as artisans at our workshop and pay them wages every month. By giving job opportunites widely for the women around the Mbeya region, we contribute to women's empowerment and poverty eradication in Africa.
-2. We produce valuable bamboo products such as baskets and furnitures at our workshop. They are available at our showroom in Mbeya, Tanzania. The stock list is also available on your request through email or call.
-3. We also plant bamboo around the Mbeya region. By distributing the nursery plant to our partners such as NGO, we contribute to afforestation in the region.
Aim
Our aim is to achieve women's empowerment, community devlopment and environmental security. By conducting trainings and giving job oppotunities, we hope to see each of the women being confident on herself with their stunning skills in bamboo-making. Our primary forcus is on benefiting poor rural communities within a sustainable environmental framework.
Mission
- To make the MWG vision a reality, we carry out sustainable livelihood projects for women and the rural poor in the southern highland regions- Mbeya, Iringa, Njombe.
- We established the group and train the women on how to make bamboo products, charcoal, biomass and furniture they can sell and through this have jobs, incomes and a better life for themselves and their children.
- We assist groups which care for orphans and support schools with technology. We creat livelihood that are self-sustaining, environmental friendly and we are supportive of community's core values.
- To build people culture of utilization of bamboo plants and develop it as a source of wealth through its products and for the benefit of the environment and its inhabitants.
- To use bamboo as substitutes of wood from other types of trees, making fureniture for office, schools and homes to enhance building industries in the regions.
- To establisha sustainable manufacturing facilities to provide skill development and employment oppotunities to deprived women and other local artisans in areas where bamboo grows in Tanzania.-To turn indigenous craft techniques and technology, to produce quality bamboo based products for the domestic and global market respectively.
- To work in coordination and collaboration with stakeholders in the bamboo sector, tourism industry, building industry and all other partners for the promotion and use of bamboo for poverty alleviation and environmental conservation. We enter into partnership and collaboration with organizations and NGOs sharing our vision. |
