The bamboo women group owes its origin to a Vocational Program offered in Njombe, a small village in Iringa province. A Japanese volunteer had tougut the african women various bamboo-making techniques over two years. Paulina, a founder of Mbeya Bamboo Women Group, has started to make bamboo products in 1985 thanks to this vocational program. In 1997, the Mbeya Bamboo Women Group was established. In 2006, our present workshop was built in Uyole, Mbeya. The 25 women are working at our workshop at present.
